Coil-built, white stoneware, black matte glaze

Portal was inspired by a large moss-covered rock spotted at a winery in Chianti. The water-worn portal in the rock invites the eye to move through the piece, rather than simply around it. The subtle undulations on the surface give the rock a weathered quality, like eroded rock.  Its interior is glazed clear. Watertight.
