Flower of the Hour

Flower of the Hour was selected for the Center for the Arts Evergreen's exhibit “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”, a juried exhibition celebrating the spirit of exploration, imagination, and the landscapes—literal or fantastical—that inspire us. Loosely inspired by Dr. Seuss’s book, this show asked artists to reflect on locations they love, places they dream of visiting, or worlds they invent. This is the description that went with my entry: 

Oh my desert flower, flower of the hour. Blooms through a stone, cut to the bone. Is it a desert creature, or just a desert feature? Song sung blue, but a desert green hue. It's all in a day, and here to stay, the desert flower of the hour. 

The base is made from black stoneware, and the upper part is white stoneware glazed in green with a bit of orange and yellow on the bloom.

Measures approximately 14.5” H x 8.5” W x 6” D, 5 pounds, 11.9 ounces.
