Handbuilt black and white stoneware, glazed red satin

Two coils of black clay, two coils of white clay, times four, plus two coils of black clay. This vessel stands tall and narrow, tapering upward like it is stretching to see over a crowd. Its silhouette is slightly wobbly and endearingly off-center, giving it the look of something that grew rather than something that was measured. Bold horizontal bands alternate between glossy, candy-apple red and softer, matte red-brown -- the effect of red satin glaze on black and white clay. 

Measures approximately 9.75” W x 20.5” H x 8” D, 9 pounds, 15.4 ounces.
